Japan Pushing for CNG cars

16 August 2004

Kyodo News via Japan Today. The Japanese government is promoting vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) in projects to be launched next April. (That might have something to do with Toyota’s earlier statement on developing a natural gas hybrid.)

CNG vehicles are considered cheaper to build than vehicles running on liquefied natural gas because LNG-powered automobiles need heat-insulating tanks to keep gas temperature at minus 162 degrees.
