Expanding Ethanol in Nebraska
2 October 2004
The indepedent.com. Nebraska’s fifth E-85 fueling station is opening Monday in Grand Island at a “Pump & Pantry.”
Gov. Mike Johanns will attend the ceremony, at which Bosselman, Inc., the owner of Pump and Pantry stations, will announce plans to expand E85 availability to more locations.
This will be the third E85 public pump to be open in the Grand Island area this year. The Nebraska Ethanol Board estimates that there are more than 22,000 vehicles that can burn E85 vehicles in Nebraska and that some 500,000 gallons of E85 have been sold in the state so far this year.
With 11 ethanol plants running in Nebraska and nine more in various stages of development, plans are under way to have as many as 30 E85 public refueling stations in the state by the end of 2005, with an estimated annual sale of 3 million gallons of fuel.
