Honda Expects to Double US Hybrid Sales in 2005

9 October 2004

Honda expects to boost its US hybrid sales to more than 45,000 units in 2005 with the addition of the Accord Hybrid (earlier post). Honda officials said they expect to sell 20,000 hybrid versions of the popular Accord sedan, in addition to the Honda Insight and Civic hybrid compacts.

Sales of the two-seater Insight—the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the US—are currently tracking in the teens (earlier post), so really Honda is looking to the Civic and the Accord hybrids for that number. From January through September 2004 Honda has sold 19,340 Civic hybrids.
