Two GM Diesel Hybrid Buses to San Joaquin County

9 October 2004

San Joaquin (California) Regional Transit District (RTD) added two GM diesel hybrid buses to its mass transit fleet. (Earlier post on GM hybrid buses.) These buses are manufactured by Gillig with the GM-Allison hybrid drivetrain and are equipped with a clean-air NOx reduction particulate trap.

There are now 335 GM-hybrid-equipped buses operating in North America.

At the announcement, Tom Stephens, group vice president of GM Powertrain, re-emphasized that GM will implement a version of the GM-Allison hybrid drive used in the buses in future full-size SUVs and pickups.
