Bootstrapping Biodiesel

16 November 2004

AP.  Peterborough, NH, selectmen have approved a local company’s plan to produce biodiesel fuel so the town can use the cleaner fuel mixture.

Innovative Fuel Solutions plans to renovate a shed in town into a biodiesel production plant, using cooking grease as a feedstock. It’s asking the town to pay $12,000 for supplies and promises to provide $5,000 of labor per year in exchange for a lease.

Town Administrator Pam Brenner said the selectmen were interested in using biodiesel before the plan was proposed.

Now that’s a low-cost startup.
