Ontario to Require 5% Ethanol

26 November 2004

CBC reports that Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is soon to announce that gasoline sold in the province must contain at least 5% ethanol within three years, up from the current level of 2%. Manitoba and Saskatchewan have already announced plans to boost the amount of ethanol in gas sold within their borders, to 10% and 7.5% respectively by the end of 2005.

McGuinty's Liberal party had earlier promised to ensure gasoline contained 10% ethanol by 2010.
