17 Civic GX (CNG) Sedans for LA Airports
4 April 2005
Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is buying 17 Honda CNG-fueled GX sedans (earlier post) for use at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Ontario International Airport (ONT).
LAWA is a self-supporting branch of the City of Los Angeles, governed by a seven-member Board of Airport Commissioners, and the owner/operator of four airports in the metro system:
Los Angeles International Airport
Ontario International Airport
Van Nuys Airport
Palmdale Regional Airport
Fourteen of the new vehicles are end-of-life replacements; the remaining three are additional vehicles that will be used by the LAX Residential Soundproofing Division and the Construction and Maintenance Divisions at LAX and ONT.
LAWA is committed to identifying and replacing fossil-fuel vehicles and equipment with alternative-fuel models. LAWA currently operates more than 400 alternative-fuel vehicles in its fleet, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), electricity, solar power and hydrogen fuel cell.
