Malaysia Building First Biodiesel Refinery

24 April 2005

Negeri_sembilan

Bernama. The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and Golden Hope Plantations are partnering to build a biodiesel plant in Labu in Negeri Sembilan—the first in the country.

MPOB is investing RM 40 million ($10.5 million) in the plant, according to Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui.

Expected to be completed in three years, the plant will produce 5,000 tonnes (approximately 36.5 thousand barrels or 1.15 million gallons) of biodiesel a month.

The biodiesel is slated for export to Europe. Port Dickson, also in the state of Negeri Sembilan, is a major oil terminal and site of the largest refinery in the country (Shell Port Dickson).

Chin said the fuel could not be used in Malaysia as the existing infrastructure of the major oil companies in the country to blend the biodiesel with petroleum diesel was insufficient.

The companies would have to work together with MPOB and Golden Hope Plantations to develop the infrastructure, he said, adding that there weren't any legal provisions for the alternative fuel in the country at the moment.

“That is why we have to export. In terms of marketing, we do not see any problems,” he said

Asked why the government started this project, Chin replied that it was to put Malaysia on the world map in coming out with alternative fuels.

(See earlier post on the development by a Malaysian company of a new clonal oil palm designed to increase oil yield by 20%.)

We are a company already into petroleum exploration. We would like to get into bio-diesel manufacturing in Malaysia or indonesia, although we are an indian conglormerate. We require the feasibility report taking into account the feed stock, RBD palmolein, jetropoh or anyother feed stock. The feasiblity report should be complete in all respect like technology, export opportunities, commercial viability reports, subsidies available in different countries for importing and using , biodiesel.
and aswell as Legislation, taxes, duties etc.

Interested parties contact : +91 99403 40021.

can please email me information about biodiesel.how is biodiesel an example of engineering?,What basic scintific understanding was required to engineer the item?what tasks did the engineer carry out in process of engineering the item?

WOULD YOU BE KIND ENOUGH TO SEND ME SOME INFORMATION ON BIODIESEL PLANTS AND THE DETAILS OF SETTING UP ONE.
I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS SOME TECHNOLOGY THAT INCREASES THE PURITY OF BIODIESEL AND ITS ITS PRODUCTION BY CUTTING THE SIDE PRODUCTS LIKE GLYCEROL ETC.
KINDLY SEND ME INFORMATION FOR THE SAME

Dear Sir,
This is an excellent project for making Bio Diesel from palm oil . I need to know more about this project , because i'm interested in setting up this project in Pakistan . So please kindly forward me the details and specifications of this project if possible .
I want to know about the manufacturers of this plant from where this plant and machinery and technology came from and what ever information is neccessary. I'll be waiting for your reply . If possible i'll come over to malaysia for a visit to this project .

Thank You.
Rizwan Malik.

I have a new application for measurements of the stability of BIODIESEL oil with our instrument.

Basic:
Manufacturers of Diesel fuel injection equipment (i.e. SHELL, EXXON, BP, TOTAL) support the development of alternative sources of fuel.
This are:
Rapeseed methyl ester (RME)
Soybean methyl ester (SOME)
or in general named:
Fatty acid methyl esters (FAME)
FAME‘s are being used more and more as alternatives and extenders for mineral oil derived fuels. This products will be named as BIODIESEL.

Quality standards for BIODIESEL:

EN 590:2000 – described the physical parameters

DIN 51606 – German quality norm and the strictest standard worldwide and is used as evidence of compliance by all manufacturers.

EN 14214 – European standard for BIODIESEL, based on DIN 51606

EN 14214 – provides the minimum requirements on FAME quality
Requirements: Free methanol
Water
Free glycerin
Mono-,di-, Tri-glycerides
Free fatty acids
Total solid impurity level
Alkali/alkaline earth metals
OXIDATION STABILITY

Why the OXIDATION STABILITY IS IMPORTANT?:
- Longer oil life
- Improved filter life
- Lower maintenance costs etc.
Additives are used for improvement of this points, to increase:
the stability and the lubricity.

Different groups of additives are used:
Antioxidants, Antirust, Viscosity index improvers, Extreme pressure metal passivators

The measurement results with the our instruments are very well correlated to the oxidation hours of the biodiesel samples.

The samples with higher oxidation hours clearly show a higher antioxidative capacity. oUR INSTRUMENT with the method applied is very well suited very for determining the antioxidative capacity of lipid- soluble substances in biodiesel with the known advantages.

I glad if anybody want to know the details of our instrument.

Our company, Evergreen Biofuels, South Africa, (www.evergreenbiofuels.com) is planning a batch process facility to manufacture about 1000 tons soya oil based biodiesel per month. It is known that larger capacity can be produced by means of continuous process technology. Are you prepared to supply technical detail on the continuous process to be used in your plant in Malaysia?
With kind regards,

I have been nominated on the Govt first committee to work on Biodiesel policy framing in Bangladesh. We are basing our strategies on Jatropha.I am seriously interested in Algae as Bangladesh has commercialised it as a nutritional support drink & based on our work perhaps we can work on Algae to Biodiesel too.Welcoming comments!
