Bloomberg Signs NYC Laws Reducing Fuel Consumption and Emissions

11 May 2005

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed into law today a wide-ranging set of five initiatives that implement stricter emissions standards as well as mandating a 20% increase in fuel economy by 2015 for new vehicles the city purchases. (Earlier post.)

While addressing New York City’s overall air quality requires regional and national solutions, this package of legislation will go a long way toward improving the environmental health of our city and ensuring clean air for all.
