Connecticut Adding 575 Hybrids and AltFuel Vehicles to Fleet
20 May 2005
AP. The state of Connecticut is adding 575 hybrid and alternative-fuel vehicles to its 4,000 vehicle fleet.
About 125 hybrids—Honda Civics, Toyota Priuses, Chevy Silverados, Ford Escapes and GMC Sierras—will be integrated into the state’s fleet early this summer.
The cost of the vehicles is about $2.5 million.
The remaining 450 vehicles will be alternative-fuel vehicles. Those contracts are still being negotiated.
Cities, towns, schools and nonprofit organizations will also be able to take advantage of the terms of the contract to purchase their own clean vehicles.
The new vehicles will replace older, gasoline-fueled vehicles.
