IANS. Chief Minister Raman Singh, of India’s state of Chhattisgarh, is the first head of a Indian state government to use biodiesel to power his official car, a Tata Safari.

“This is just the start of the bio-fuel energy revolution in Chhattisgarh. Jatropha diesel will power all government vehicles within three months” Singh told reporters.

“The state is tipped to cultivate 80 million jatropha seedlings in rural areas to make Chhattisgarh a bio-fuel self-reliant state by 2015.”

The Tata Safari, made in India by Tata Motors, uses a 1.9-liter, 4-cylinder diesel that delivers 66 kW (89 hp) of power and 186 Nm (137 lb-ft) torque.

Do you know about the russian research, about the hydro car. The research is being done in Uk. But I think is not easy to solve the problem because of the danger
of hydrogen.

We formed a research centre (Centre for Renewable, Environmental and Sustainable Technologies)at our institute (Shri Andal Alagar College of Engineering, Chennai). We are doing projects on production and characterization of biodiesel from cheapest sources. Very happy to hear that Chattisgarh CM is using biodiesel in his car. Let us hope all vehicles belong to GOI will use biodiesel for their vehicles soon.
