Shreveport, La, Adds GM Diesel Hybrid Bus

8 June 2005

SporTran, the transit system for Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana, has added a GM diesel-hybrid bus to its mass transit fleet—the first such bus to operate in the state of Louisiana.

The bus, manufactured by Gillig, uses the GM Allison parallel hybrid powertrain that is the basis for the two-mode hybrid system under co-development by GM and DaimlerChrysler.

To date, GM has delivered 353 hybrid buses to urban mass transit systems in 23 cities.
