Ford Offers Interest-Free Financing for Escape Hybrids in California and DC
16 March 2006
Reuters. Ford Motor is offering interest-free financing on its Escape hybrid sport utility vehicle in California and Washington, DC, to boost sales in markets that see strong hybrid sales. California and Washington are Ford’s two hottest hybrid markets.
In addition to rebates, Ford is also spending on advertising campaigns, featuring Kermit the Frog, that tout the company’s commitment to hybrids. Ford partly attributes its jump in Escape sales in February compared to January to the ad campaign. (Earlier post.)
The new offer in those two areas cannot be combined with the rebate of as much as $1,000 that the automaker already has on the vehicle.
Buyers in California and Washington can pick either zero-percent financing or rebates on the Escape Hybrid, which runs on both a traditional engine and a battery-powered motor. The offer ends in three weeks.

I sat in the driver's seat of an Escape hybrid recently and was struck by how little room there was for my left foot. If I won one in a contest I would give it to charity rather than drive it. It was less comfortable than my little Kia.
