Scania Lands LNG Delivery Fleet Order in China

Scania will supply the XinAo Group with 50 tractor units for the company’s Liquefied Natural Gas transportation around 18 cities in China.

The trucks ordered by XinAo group are Scania P-series, three-axle tractor units powered by an 11-liter 380 hp diesel engine. The tractors are Euro-3 compliant—as are all Scania units sold in China. The trucks will be used for transport of LNG from Xinjiang to eastern China and are expected to clock very high annual mileages.

Scania was chosen as supplier to XinAo Group due to the fuel economy of its trucks and the service commitment made by Scania in China, according to the company.

XinAo Group, a private company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2001, operates within urban gas, energy equipment, bio-chemical and real estate market segments. The company delivers urban gas to more than 50 cities, such as Changsha, Shijiazhuang and Dongguan, covering a population of approximately 30 million people.

Global Energy Consumption Up; Coal Fastest Growing Fuel

The ongoing strength of world economic growth last year, despite financial market turmoil which began in August, continued to support global energy consumption. Although Growth in primary energy consumption slowed in 2007 compared to 2006, but at 2.4% it was still above the 10-year average for the fifth consecutive year, according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy. Coal remained the fastest-growing fuel, but oil consumption grew slowly.
