GM May Sell Allison Transmission Commercial and Military Ops

General Motors is looking at strategic options related to its Allison Transmission commercial and military operations, including a potential sale of the business, which is not central to GM’s mission of designing, manufacturing and selling cars and light trucks globally. Among Allison products are the two-mode hybrid systems used in transit buses.

Perhaps they are thinking about spinning off another division, taking the cash, and then pounding it on cutting the cost of auto components ala Delphi. They better make sure their 2mode is not compromised by any move, since it is a key cornerstone to their recovery.

Allison, and especially their two-mode hybrid transmission, are GM crown gavels. Sell it?!
