Second-Generation Highlander Hybrid

Toyota will unveil the second-generation 2008 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid sport utility vehicles (SUVs) at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show on 7 February 2007. The first-generation Highlander made its debut during the 2001 model year.

Scott: I agree, it seems Toyota would want to compete with the Ford/Merc/Mazda hybrid triplets. Also, if Subaru could hybridize their Forester that would make a really popular car (PacNorthWest) unbeatable! What are they waiting for?

Ed and Scott:
I would like to see a hybrid Subaru - anything really. I like the Outbacks and Legacies personally. All wheel drive and superb gas mileage would be a hit.

With the Highlander moving to the Avalon platform, I suppose I should give up hope, but I wish the Highlander Hybrid had a 4-cylinder engine paired with the electric motor, a la the Camry. Maybe Toyota will do a RAV4 Hybrid soon.
