Tata Motors Extends Turbodiesel to the Indigo
9 February 2007
Tata Motors (India) introduced two new models of its best-selling Indigo line outfitted with a new 1.4-liter DICOR (Direct Injection Common Rail) diesel engine.
The 51 kW (69 hp) engine offers 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) of torque. The engine has dual overhead camshafts to enhance the high end power output of the engine and a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), which minimizes the turbo lag at lower engine rpms.
Tata Motors launched its first common rail diesel engine on the Tata Safari in 2005 as a 3 litre configuration.
