Air Liquide Acquires Lurgi
17 April 2007
Air Liquide is acquiring the German engineering firm Lurgi, which is owned by Global Engineering Alliance (GEA Group AG), for €550 million (US$745 million).
With nearly 1,300 employees and total sales of around €850 million in 2006, Lurgi has a large portfolio of technologies in gasification, hydrogen and syngas production, and biofuels production.
With the Lurgi acquisition, Air Liquide doubles the size of its engineering activities, and gains access to coal-to-liquids (CTL) and coal-to-chemicals (CTC) sectors.
