DHL to Introduce CNG Vans in UAE; Targeting 50% of Fleet by 2009
3 April 2007
Arabian Business. DHL announced plans to add compressed natural gas powered vans (CNGs) to its UAE express delivery fleet.
With natural gas continuing to develop as an alternative fuel of choice in the country, and a forecast of 20% natural gas share of road traffic fuel consumption in the UAE by 2012, DHL is pilot testing two CNG-fueled vans as part of a plan to expand its UAE natural gas fleet in the coming years.
The UAE country manager, Janet Jweihan, said that DHL is targeting having 50% of its express delivery fleet in the UAE be CNG-fueled by 2009.
The test units were converted from diesel by Al Naboodah Automobiles.
