SAIC to Show 4th Generation Fuel Cell Vehicle at Shanghai Show
7 April 2007
Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation announced that it will show the latest version of its fuel cell vehicle at the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show.
The car uses a fourth-generation powertrain technology—“ChaoYue 4”— jointly developed by Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Powertrain Co., Ltd., TongJi University, and SAIC Motor Corporation Limited. The vehicle has a maximum speed of 150 kph (93 mph) and a range of 300 km (186 miles).
In July 2006, Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Powertrain signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and fuel cell supply agreement with Ballard to cooperate on the development of fuel cell vehicles for demonstration and field trial programs planned in China in 2006 and 2007. (Earlier post.)
A third-generation ChaoYue 3 fuel cell vehicle received four gold medals during the Michelin Challenge Bibendum 2006.
