Santa Barbara Introduces 8 Hybrids to Bus Fleet

The Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) has introduced eight new 40-foot Gillig diesel-electric hybrid buses with the GM-Allison hybrid drive into its fleet.
The MTD has also approved the use of biodiesel in the fleet—including the new hybrids. Buses will begin using B5 biodiesel by May 1 and B20 this summer.
