e-bikes are interesting for hot climate urban use - especially if batteries are too expensive for BEVs.
A 300W e-bike will be a lot cheaper to produce than a 50KW BEV.
You will not arrive in work dripping sweat (but you obviously won't get a workout).
The main problems (assuming reasonably short journeys) would be weather and safety.
There is less need for them in cooler climates.
They are one more way to get around without lugging 3000 pounds of metal with you.
It is a pity so many e-bikes look like they were designed by a 19th century sanitary ware manufacturer.
