Ford to Sell Edge Crossover in Brazil
15 January 2008
Ford will put its Edge mid-sized crossover on sale in Brazil later this year. The Edge for the Brazilian market will not be a flexfuel vehicle, according to Ford.
Led by the EcoSport, Fiesta and Fusion, Ford sales rose 20.7% in Brazil and 18% in all of South America in 2007. The Fusion went on sale in Brazil in 2006 and became the segment leader.
To keep the momentum going, Ford has announced plans to invest $1 billion in its Brazil operations in the next four years and another $160 million in its Argentina operations.
In 2007, the crossover segment in the US grew by 17% overall. Ford’s crossovers performed three times better, climbing 62% for the year. In its first full year on sale, Ford Edge had US sales of 130,125—exceeding Ford’s original forecasts by 30%.
The US Edge is currently equipped with a 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V-6.

It might be light green, because a lot of cars in Brazil run E85.
