SAIC Subsidiary and Brilliance Auto to Develop Dual Clutch Transmissions
25 January 2008
Gasgoo. Shanghai Automobile Gear Works (SAGW), a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), and Brilliance Automotive are strengthening their partnership to produce advanced transmissions, including dual clutch semi-automatic transmissions.
Both parties will increase investments in their current joint venture Shenyang SAIC-Jinbei Transmission Co. After the new investment, each party will hold a 50 percent stake in the joint venture.
The joint venture will have an annual capacity of half a million transmissions, of which 100,000 will be dual clutch transmissions (DCT).
Both sides believed that DCT technology represents the future of China’s automatic transmission market, which is now dominated by international players.

Hope that Borg Warner set a lot of money aside to fight the Chinese factor. The Borg Warner DC tranny is wonderful tho & S&B will have to work hard to catch up with the BW DC tranny.
