Thailand PTT To Switch to B5 By July

14 February 2008

Bangkok Post. PTT Plc will replace B2 biodiesel with B5 biodiesel at its stations nationwide in Thailand by July.

Chaiwat Choorit, a PTT senior executive vice-president for the oil business unit, said its biodiesel arm, Thai Oleo Chemicals (TOL), had succeeded in securing new sources of palm oil through long-term purchase contracts.

Initially, the company will provide B5 at 600 service stations nationwide, and expects to replace all diesel nozzles at all 1,200 stations by July...The move also follows the government’s policy to cut oil imports by supporting vegetable oil production. Policymakers expect that by 2011, all diesel fuel sold in Thailand will be B5.
