Enova Delivers Plug-in Hybrid Bus to National Park
29 July 2008
Enova Systems has delivered a plug-in hybrid bus to Denali National Park for use in transporting visitors. The IC Bus includes Enova’s post-transmission parallel charge-depleting hybrid drive technology. (Earlier post.) Enova is the exclusive supplier of hybrid electric drive systems to IC Bus, an affiliated division of Navistar.
The Enova post-transmission hybrid drive technology couples a diesel engine with an 80 kW powertrain that incorporates a control unit, a 22.5 kWh Li-ion battery pack and an electric motor.
The hybrid bus will be operated by Aramark, the transportation provider to Denali National Park and other national parks throughout the US. Aramark, a $10.6 billion company based in Philadelphia, PA., operates more than 100 transit buses at Denali, and has announced its intention to apply hybrid drive technology in a large portion of this fleet.
