Cummins Westport Lands Order for 200+ Natural Gas Bus Engines in Peru

Cummins Westport Inc. (CWI) has received an order for more than 200 CWI natural gas engines to equip new buses for transit providers in the capital city of Lima, Peru.
According to the International Association for Natural Gas Vehicles (IANGV), Peru has the fifth largest proven natural gas reserves in South America and more than 7,800 natural gas vehicles as of mid-2007.
South America has the world’s largest regional population of natural gas vehicles, with 3,407,177 units as of June 2007, according to IANGV. Average growth in the past five years in South American has been 27.9%.
Argentina had the world’s largest natural gas fleet as of June 2007, with an estimated 1.65 million units; Pakistan was second with 1.55 million units, and Brazil third with 1.426 million units.
