smart fortwo On Sale in Brazil in 2009

Starting in April 2009, the smart fortwo will be available in Brazil. Daimler AG made the announcement at the São Paulo Auto Show, where the two-seater celebrated its country debut.

More than one million of the two-seat city cars have been produced since the introduction of the first generation in 1998. The smart is now on sale in 37 countries, including the USA, where it has sold 20,000 units since the beginning of the year. Starting mid-2009, the smart fortwo will also be available in China.

An average of six million vehicles are on the streets of São Paulo, a city of ten million inhabitants. Every day, around 1,000 new vehicles are registered in São Paulo.
