Brilliance to Show Hybrid BS6 at 2008 Auto Guangzhou
16 November 2008
China Car Times. Brilliance Auto will launch the hybrid version of its BS6 sedan at the 6th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition (2008 Auto Guangzhou), 19 - 25 November 2008.
The hybrid BS6 reportedly combines a 1.8-liter turbo engine with a NiMH battery pack for a reduction in fuel consumption of 35%.
Brilliance attempted to export an earlier version of the BS6 to Europe in 2006, but suspended the effort after the sedan achieved only one of five possible stars after a EuroNCAP crash test arranged by the ADAC (German Automobile Association). A re-engineered BS6 was later retested in Spain and gained a 3 star rating.
Brilliance also plans to join BYD in exhibiting at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.

It would be nice to see a commercial version of a hydraulic hybrid, as they don't require expensive batteries. Most if not all or more of the efficiency gains are available with Hydraulic. Also the free piston INNAS NOAX chiron engine can be used ..HG..
