MyCar EV Now On Sale in London

Launched at the British International Motor Show in July 2008 (earlier post) and voted Electric Car of the Year at the Green Fleet awards, the MyCar electric vehicle is now on sale at evstores in London.

The two-seater MyCar CV.2 is developed and manufactured by EuAuto Technologies in Hong Kong—Hong Kong’s first car manufacturer. A 9.6 kWh, 48V lead AGM battery pack powers a 3.73 kW, 48V DC electric motor. Maximum range is 70 miles (112 km), with a top speed of 40 mph (64 km/h). Maximum gradient is 20% at GVW. Recharging takes 8-10 hours.
Founded in 2007, evstores is a private limited company that promotes, sells and services electric cars. From its main offices at Park Lane, Mayfair, London it distributes MyCar city cars, Micro-Vett commercial vehicles and vans, Tazzari city cars and e-max scooters.

Allow me to correct: this is not an NEV but (in Europe) a fully road-approved vehicle. In Europe's cities about 95% of all car usage is for traffic that travels at average speeds of 10 to 15 mph, does round trips of 5 miles or less and carries one or two people only. If we can use small electric cars NOW for all that traffic it will clean up the cities and make a huge contribution to reducing GHG emissions. As such, city electric vehicles may prove to have the greatest historic significance of any current automotive development. City vehicles are available now. Affordable electric cars replacements with highway speeds and a range of hundreds of miles remain elusive and we cannot and should not wait for them.
