Rhode Island Receiving More Than $24.2M in Recovery Funding for Transit Hybrids

11 July 2009

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will receive more than $24.2 million to purchase twenty new, 40-foot hybrid buses and to upgrade 10 trolleys to hybrid propulsion.

The federal funding, provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, will also be used by RIPTA for capital maintenance and to upgrade public transportation throughout Rhode Island.

RIPTA is a quasi-public, independent authority. Established in 1966, RIPTA is authorized to operate public transit services throughout the State of Rhode Island.

You could say Iraq was about big money. Read the book "Blood Money" and you will see.

If the country can end up with cleaner and more efficient transportation from all of this, then that is much better than buildings in Iraq where the electrical is faulty and the plumbing leaks.

If you think iraq was about iraq your not all that clever.

No, it is about how the U.S. government spends the tax payers money...do you get the connection now? Most people do get it and would rather see it spent on modern transportation that saves energy than going to war for oil.
