Advanced Battery Technologies Signs New Order for Li-ion Batteries for Electric Vehicles

China-based Advanced Battery Technologies, Inc., a developer, manufacturer and distributor of rechargeable Polymer Lithium-Ion (PLI) batteries, has signed a polymer lithium-ion phosphate battery supply contract with Beijing-based U Long Run Sheng Technology Development Co., Ltd. ABAT will supply two kinds of battery pack: a 48-volt 15 Ah pack for electric motorcycles and a 72-volt, 50 Ah battery applied to other electric vehicles.

The contract amount is RMB60 million (US $8.8 million) and is deliverable over the next 12 months.

U Long Run Sheng is primarily engaged in lithium-battery pack assembly and power management system production and sales.

Interesting to see more mass produced lithium batteries. Something like 6 each of the larger pack would do for a decent PHEV.

Has anybody heard of the energy density and price?
