Diesel Innovative VVA and Advanced air System for Downspeeding project launches
21 December 2010
The DIVAS research project (Diesel Innovative VVA and Advanced air System for Downspeeding) led by Renault launched earlier this year. Project partners include IFP, Valeo, IRSEEM, Arts et Metiérs ParisTech.
The DIVAS project aims to identify promising innovative technology routes in terms of reducing CO2 emissions (about 10%) on a diesel engine. The project is studying the potential for downspeeding; based on results of system simulation, two technology concepts with potential were identified:
- Compressor (mechanical detachable or electric) + Turbo
- Variable valve + turbo
