Oerlikon Graziano develops new transaxle for front axle hybrid module
11 October 2012
Oerlikon Graziano has developed a new transaxle transmission for a front axle hybrid module. The transaxle is fitted on the new Lancia rally car 037 4WD-H, which will be used as laboratory vehicle to test innovative hybrid drives.
The 4WD version of the rear wheel drive 037 rally car is being shown during the 10th San Marino Republic Rallylegend 2012.
Oerlikon Graziano worked with ACTUA (a company specializing in electric and hybrid drive components) to design, produce and test the new transaxle transmission for the front axle hybrid module.
The new transmission suits the requested longitudinal layout and drives the front wheels through a self locking differential.
The project was officially kicked off in May 2012 and the transmission was finished at the beginning of August 2012, after only 10 weeks.
