Audi introducing four new TDI diesel models to the US market
19 November 2012
Audi of America is introducing four new TDI clean diesel models for the US market at the Los Angeles Auto Show. New 3.0 liter V6 TDI clean diesel models will include the Audi A8, A7, A6, Q5 and an updated Q7 TDI
The addition of these four models marks the first time Audi will feature a full lineup of TDI clean diesel vehicles in the US as they join the updated Q7 model. Each TDI vehicle delivers up to 30% better fuel economy and 30% lower carbon dioxide emissions than gasoline engines.
The flagship of the Audi brand, the A8 TDI, achieves a manufacturer estimated fuel efficiency of 24 mpg (9.8 l/100km) in the city and 36 mpg (6.5 l/100km) on the highway. The new 3.0 liter TDI engine generates 240 hp (179 kW) with 406 lb-ft (550 N·m ) of torque and accelerates from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds.
The A8 TDI will be available in Spring 2013; the A7, A6 and Q5 TDIs in the Fall.

It always struck me that diesels would be well suited to the "big" US states, such as Montana and Texas etc.
I wonder will Audi* diesels sell well in these states, or are they too expensive and mainly bought by coastal hipsters with more money.
*Also Volkswagen.
