First CNG Engines for Philippine Bus Fleet

Cummins Westport Inc is supplying 100 compressed natural gas-fueled (CNG) engines for public transit buses in Metro Manila as part of the Philippine government’s Natural Gas Vehicle Program for Public Transport (NGVPPT). These will be the first fleets of low-emissions CNG buses to be used in the country.
The Philipine government expects 60 percent of the targeted 1,500 buses in Metro Manila to run on CNG.
Chinese bus manufacturers led by Anhui Ankai Automobile and Zhengzhou Yutong Company will supply the new buses using the Cummins-Westport engines. More than 2,000 CWI engines are operating throughout China.
Cummins Westport is a joint venture between Cummins Inc. and Westport Innovations that develops and markets low-emissions, alternative fuel engines manufactured by Cummins, a leader in diesel technology among others. Westport Innovations is a leading developer of natural gas- and hydrogen-fueled engines.
