Rentech and UOP Form Alliance for Deployment of Synthetic Fuels and Chemicals Technologies
19 June 2008
Rentech, Inc. has formed an alliance with UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, to jointly offer the companies’ respective technologies for the commercial production of synthetic fuels, specialty waxes and chemicals.
The non-exclusive agreement aligns Rentech’s proprietary Fischer-Tropsch process to convert synthesis gas from biomass and fossil resources into hydrocarbons with UOP’s hydrocracking and hydrotreating technologies that process and upgrade hydrocarbons into synthetic fuels, specialty waxes and chemicals.
This alliance between Rentech and UOP provides a one-stop solution to developers of commercial synthetic fuels facilities worldwide for synthesis gas conversion and product upgrading.
—Richard Penning, Executive Vice President of Commercial Affairs for Rentech
As commercialization partners, Rentech and UOP expect to increase their market reach and jointly offer proven technologies that can produce ultra-clean burning synthetic fuels, specialty waxes and chemicals that are cleaner than traditional petroleum-derived fuels and chemicals.
Rentech is currently involved in a number of synthetic fuels projects, including the use of municipal solid waste as a feedstocok to create synthetic jet fuel. (Earlier post.)
I never gave up on Rentech--this is the stock millions will look back on 2008 and wish they would have bought.
