The first manifestation of the new partnership will be the entry of a Ginetta-Zytek LMP1 car in the Petit Le Mans of the American Le Mans series sportscar racing championship next month.

Ginetta’s Zytek involvement has accelerated several development areas such as the new Zytek LMP2 engine and a new 4.5-liter LMP1 engine (already in a car testing and still on time to race at Petit Le Mans) that will form the basis of a recently announced Hybrid project with CORSA motorsport in the ALMS. (Earlier post.)

The hybrid will be powered through a combination of the new ethanol-fueled (E10) 4.5-liter engine and a three-phase induction 35 kW electric motor with a Li-ion battery pack for energy storage and a rear wheel-fitted KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) for supplemental regeneration.
