The new dual-fuel model offers a 1.4-liter 8v Fire unit that is Euro 5 compliant. Range from its 84-liter natural gas tank is 310 km (192 miles). The 45-liter (12 gallon) gasoline tank extends that to a total range of more than 1,000 km (620 miles).
Running on gasoline, the engine delivers 77 hp (57 kW) of power at 6,000 rpm, and torque of 115 Nm (85 lb-ft) at 3,000 rpm. On natural gas, power delivered is 70 hp (51 kW) with 104 Nm (77 lb-ft) of torque. Top speed under gasoline is 162 kph (100 mph); under natural gas, top speed is 156 kph (97 mph).
Combined cycle fuel consumption with gasoline is 6.3 L/100km (37 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 149 g/km. With natural gas, fuel consumption is 6.4 m3/100km, with CO2 emissions of 115 g/km.
During the period January-August 2008, Fiat sold approximately 43,000 natural gas vehicles in Italy, compared with 33,000 during the same period in 2007. Fiat’s Natural Power dual fuel range includes the Multipla Natural Power, Punto Natural Power, Panda Panda Natural Power, Panda Panda Climbing Natural Power and Doblò Natural Power.
Very logical development. CNG can be made at home from items bought at the supermarket or dumpster. ..HG..
