New Vehicle Sales in Japan Down 13.1% in October

Sales of new vehicles in Japan, excluding minivehicles with engine displacements of up to 660cc, dropped 13.1% to 233,922 units in October year-on-year, according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.
Passenger car sales dropped 13.4% to 202,572 units. Sales of cars with engine displacements of more than 2.0 liters declined 21.5% to 87,675 units, and sales of smaller cars fell 6.1% to 114,897 units.
Truck sales fell 11.4% to 30,261 units, while bus sales rose 6.8% to 1,089 units.
Separately, the Japan Mini Vehicles Association said that new minivehicle sales in October rose 6.2% year-on-year to 145,444 units, up for the first time in three months.
