Report: Toyota To Cut Back Major Capital Spending Plans
14 December 2008
The Nikkei reports that Toyota Motor Corp. will cut back or defer major capital investment projects in Japan and abroad, as its sales fall amid a worsening economic situation.
Among the projects affected are:
A 50% boost in annual production capacity to 150,000 units at a Chinese factory that makes such vehicles as the Crown luxury sedan. The expansion is frozen until sales recover.
A 2010 increase in production capacity in Brazil and India where the company produces 60,000 and 50,000 Corollas a year, respectively. That plan is now on pause.
A plant in Mississippi was scheduled to come online in 2010, but the automaker will now delay the opening until 2011 or later.
Toyota also will pause the revamping of production lines at its factory in Takaoka, Aichi Prefecture. It has already finished renovating one line, but work on the other two, estimated to cost 20-30 billion yen, will be pushed back from next year to at least 2010.
Of course all that has to happen for the "economy" to improve is for the monolith media machine to quit spewing negative messaging.
Try this fascinating psyche experiment: Don't listen to "news" or read "news" papers and magazines for 30 whole days. Drop out of the media empire's opiated (no, not Andy's Opi)grasp oover your magnificent mind and see if you have really missed anything.
The answer for all but the lobotomized is a resounding "NO!" Now, if the evil media choose to enervate the perception of a rebounded economy, all they need do is instruct their automatons err... "news" editors, to sing a different toon.
Weclone to the "Outer Limits" where your vertical and horizontal is under "our" control.

So WHY do they continue to spend $250 Million each year on a F1 team that has zip wins to show for the $2 Billion Toyota has wasted since 1992?
