AVL and GIF to Cooperate on Powertrain and Transmission Development
11 February 2009
AVL, headquartered in Graz, Austria, and transmission specialist GIF, headquartered in Alsdorf, Germany, have signed a global cooperation agreement covering powertrain and transmission development for passenger cars and light trucks as well as test bed technology.
The aim of the cooperation is to join AVL’s powertrain competence with the transmission know-how of GIF.
The agreement provides for the world-wide marketing of all development services within the scope of this cooperation. GIF’s knowledge with regard to transmission mechanical and functional development combined with AVL’s software- and application-engineering will be available to the worldwide sales and engineering network of AVL. Both partners believe that it will be increasingly necessary to focus development activities on the engine-transmission combination in the future, especially where drives with electric components are concerned.
AVL is the world’s largest privately-owned and independent company for the development of powertrain systems with internal combustion engines and alternative drive systems, instrumentation and test systems as well as mathematical simulation software.
