Air Liquide Launches €8.5M Hydrogen Vehicle Demonstration Project In Canada
22 April 2009
Air Liquide has launched a hydrogen vehicle demonstration project which will test two hydrogen-fuelled shuttle buses as well as nine airport-related passenger and utility vehicles in real conditions at Montreal Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport, Canada. Other applications for the use of hydrogen in auxiliary or stationary power are further key components of this project.
Air Liquide initiated and leads this €8.5 million (US$11 million) project which brings together public and private partners. The project is funded by Air Liquide as well as the federal and provincial governments in Canada. Moreover, some 14 private business partners will contribute to this project.
Air Liquide will provide hydrogen using a unique fueling technology to fill multiple vehicles at the same time, and will supply portable hydrogen tanks for many of these applications.
This is a Federal Government sponsored project to show that the current government is not 100% anti-greener vehicles. It is certainly not a menace for ICE vehicles industry.
BEVs with quick charge batteries or PHEV with slower charge batteries could do the same tasks and probably require less maintenance and last longer.
Electrovaya (and others) could produce the batteries locally.
BEVs and PHEVs could also be expanded for many others tasks such as Postal Services and others. This could rival the current pure ICE vehicles and upset the cart too much.
Meanwhile, let us give a few more $$ B to local ICE (SCC) vehicle manufacturers.
SCC = Small Car Crushers

Or they could just go with h2. As long as they can get the fuel cheap enough and it works well enough for their needs im sure they are happy.
