PetroVietnam, Alfa Laval and Delta-T Begin Construction of Ethanol Plant in VietNam

PetroVietnam and its partners Alfa Laval AB and Delta-T have started building an US$80 million ethanol plant in northern Vietnam. The plant, located in Phu Tho province, 80 km north of Hanoi, will uses cassava and sugarcane as feedstock and has a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters of ethanol a year, which will be used domestically.

Construction of the plant is to be completed by the end of 2010.

Ethanol production in Vietnam is currently concentrated in three plants with capacities ranging from 15,000 to 30,000 liters (approx. 4,000 to 8,000 gallons US) per day. As demand has increased, expansion and new ventures are entering the market.
