Cegasa Group Begins Developing Li-ion Batteries for EVs

Spain-based battery manufacturer Cegasa Group has started developing its first prototypes of lithium-ion batteries for electric cars. Cegasa has been manufacturing batteries for more than 75 years.

Cegasa is also participating in the “Green Project”, led by SEAT and in the DEIMOS Project for research into fuel cells, besides other initiatives within the EU 7th Framework Program involving these technologies, such as the upcoming Green Car Initiative.

Cegasa is currently making progress in the research and development stage of its first Li-ion prototypes. It plans to launch a pilot plant for the manufacture of electrodes and cells next year.
