New Natural Gas Vehicle Registrations in Italy Capture 7.4% Market Share Jan-July 09

New registrations of natural gas-powered passenger vehicles (OEM and retrofit) represented 7.4% of total passenger car registrations in Italy from January-July 2009, according to figures from NGVA Europe and ACEA (the European Automobile Manufacturers Association).

Natural gas vehicle registrations in Italy reached a cumulative total of 99,192 units Jan-July according to NGVA Europe; total passenger car registrations in Italy for the period were 1,336,098, according to ACEA.

NGVA Europe attributed the increasing market share to the continuous introduction of new NGV models to the Italian market. Fiat recently introduced two new bi-fuel (methane and gasoline) models: the Fiat Punto Evo and the Fiat Qubo, as an example.
