FNA. Iran’s largest car and truck-manufacturing company, Iran-Khodro, will unveil what it calls the Middle-East’s first hybrid bus.
“The hybrid system designed in this project was installed on one of Iran-Khodro Diesel Co. (IKD) city buses. The related tests regarding parts have been done and we are going to perform the vehicle test soon,” [Hybrid Bus project manager Mohsen] Isfahani stated. The 4-year project was a collaborative effort by Iran-Khodro Industrial Group, Tehran University, Isfahan University and Iran’s Fuel Conservation Company (IFCO).
The hybrid bus reportedly reduces fuel consumption and emissions for 30-40%. The electric motor can move the bus independently, and the pack can be plugged in for a recharge, as well as via regenerative braking.
