Diesels Account for 23% of VW US Sales in November
01 December 2009
Volkswagen’s Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Golf and Touareg TDI diesels sold 3,667 total units in the US November, accounting for 23% of the brand’s total sales of 16,250 units.
November 2009 sales were up 13.7% increase over November 2008. November marks Volkswagen’s fifth consecutive sales month above last year.
The Jetta, Volkswagen’s top selling nameplate, posted strong November results with 7,957 units, a 23% increase over November 2008.
How does this compare to the gasoline models?

This shows the fraction of TDIs of total brand sales. What I meant by my question was, what percent do TDIs make up of total sales of models that are offered in TDI? Per model breakdown would be interesting too.

Andy - according to the vw.com web site (http://media.vw.com/index.php?s=43&item=533), there were 8987 vehicles sold in November which has the tdi option (Golf, Jetta sedan/SportWagen, Touareg). 3667/8987 = 0.408 = 40.8%.

To keep this in perspective -
The total sales of all VWs in one month is still less then the sales posted by individual models from other companies.
