25 February 2010
Eaton Corporation, together with Master Transportation Bus Manufacturing Ltd. and Capital Bus Group, has delivered 30 hybrid-powered city buses in Taipei, Taiwan. The buses will operate in normal passenger transit duty in Taipei and are expected to generate fuel savings of 25 to 30% along with similar reductions in particulate and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
With this latest delivery, Eaton has now placed more than 1,000 hybrid power systems into service in city passenger buses throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Of the 30 hybrid buses being placed into service, 15 will operate in the Taipei County bus fleet and 15 in the Taipei City fleet, both managed by the Capital Bus Group. Another 45 Eaton hybrid-powered buses will be delivered in April 2010. Master Transportation Bus Manufacturing is the bus builder.
This delivery followed the initial delivery of two Eaton hybrid-powered transit buses in Taipei in September 2009, with plans for a total of 75 hybrid buses to be placed into service in early 2010.
