19 June 2010
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has launched a newly expanded and enhanced website on climate change and transportation, the AASHTO Transportation and Climate Change Resource Center.
Launched on May 5, the site is designed to serve as the primary AASHTO communication tool for transportation and climate change, providing information for state transportation departments as well as other transportation practitioners. The site includes links to resources and information on federal, regional, state, and local climate actions, policies, and regulations. It also includes information related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as climate adaptation.
Topics covered on the site include:
- federal actions and legislation;
- state/local/MPO activities;
- greenhouse gas mitigation;
- climate adaptation;
- future research; and
- web links.
In addition, the site provides links to AASHTO’s Climate Change Webinar Series, co-sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration; links to current topics and events; a calendar of meetings and events; AASHTO’s Real Solutions policy report; and AASHTO’s Transportation and Climate Change Primer. The site also houses the Climate Change Weekly Briefing, an online newsletter for members of AASHTO’s Climate Change Technical Assistance Program.
